About Us

The BEC provides a range of events throughout the year for keen cyclists. However, we are mainly known as a race club, and our riders have featured strongly in local amateur race events for over 80 years.

In the 2009 season alone the club won the Southern Counties Cycling Unions team awards for Time Trialling in the 25 Mile and 50 Mile events as well as the Best All Rounder Team award. The clubs top timetrialist Keith Coffey again won the individual BAR award, retaining his title for the nineth consecutive year.

Throughout the March to September season the club promotes and competes weekly in local Road Racing (London South Eastern District) and Track events (mainly at Herne Hill).

As well as competing in Open Events the club runs a comprehensive time trial series. This year we will again be running our Bletchingley Summer TT Series to be held on tuesday evenings in the height of the summer. The course is a rolling 11miles and riders are encorouged to join us in the pub afterwards. The series is aimed at bringing new riders into the sport.

While mainly we enjoy the competitive side of our sport in recent years we've also sent groups to some of the biggest cyclesportives around including, The Dragon Ride, Tour of Flanders and the Marmott. In 2008 five Bec riders enjoyed a week training in the Alps climbing Alpe d'Huez, Galibier and others. This year there aer plans to visit the Pyrenees for a summer training camp.

Essentially though we're a small family club that just enjoy racing, riding and the odd social get together. So whether you are a beginner, returning competitive cyclist or triathlete looking to improve your cycling performance the Bec will provide a warm and friendly welcome, whatever your age.

Membership applications are available on the site as well as a guide to upcoming events, we look forward to meeting you at the next Bec event.
