Track
Track racing is one of the fastest and safest forms of cycle competition. Traditionally the BEC club has had a strong track team, and riders regularly compete at local events.
Herne Hill Wednesday Summer Series
Our local Velodrome is the Herne Hill Track, a 450m banked concrete track ( http://www.vcl.org.uk/hernehill). When it rains we all curse the fact that it's open air, but when the sun's out it's the greatest place to be and racing is fast and furious. From May onwards the track plays host to a Wednesday night race series starting at 7pm. Unfortunatly there won't be a Monday night series this year, as there has been in the past.

This year the racing will be every Wednesday from 6th May to 26th August. In addition there is a three week saturday Omnium Series starting on 18th April which builds up to the Good Friday Meet www.goodfridaymeeting.org.uk/. Check the BCF web site for more race meets.
New riders will need to attend one of the Saturday morning training sessions to get a feel for riding fixed gears and gain some instruction on race ettique.
The club has a number of bikes to lend out to club mates for the season, and we've all got an opinion on how to buy / build the fastest stead for when you need your own.
Club Track Championships
Once a year the BEC get together to find out exactly who is fastest. Riders compete in Sprint, Pursuit and Points races.
